Canon 1000D came back to owner after year in ocean

Photographer Markus Thompson came accross a rusty Canon 1000D when he was scuba diving in Deep Bay outside Vancouver. After taking the SD card out and cleaning it, the amazing thing happened:

(the card was Sandisk Extreme III 20mb/s 2GB), he was surprised to discover that it still worked. There were many photos which were taken on August 2010. Thompson then turned to Google+ to find the owners, writing:

"Approximately 50 pictures on the card from a family vacation. If you know a fire fighter from British Columbia whose team won the Pacific Regional Firefit competition, has a lovely wife and (now) 2 year old daughter – let me know. I would love to get them their vacation photos :)"

After receiving thousands of comments and shares, he finally found the owner and successfully turned the photo back to them. Let's see what salty water can do on a SDLR camera.
